MCA Licenses and certification routes
There are Various MCA courses and certification routes available and are outlined below, for a further detailed overview of each course you can view each engineer description within the training and engineering drop down boxes.
Approved Engine Course Certificate
After completing not less than one month's service as a Yacht Engineer.
The AEC Certificate is issued directly by an MCA approved Training Establishment after mandatory attendance of a FIVE day training course consisting of basic diesel engine, and associated systems, operation and construction, plus a brief look at pollution and regulatory requirements for Yachts.
Marine Engine Operator Licence (Yacht)
After completing 36 months service as a dual purpose Deck/Engineer Officer responsible for the maintenance and servicing of the vessel, whilst holding an AEC Certificate
OR
After completing 24 months service as a Yacht Engineer responsible for system maintenance whilst holding an AEC Certificate.
The MEOL(Y) Licence is issued by the MCA after mandatory attendance of a FIVE day preparatory course and success in the subsequent oral examination.
Chief Engineer Reg III/3 Certificate of Competency, referred to as "Yacht 4" or "Y4"
After completing 42 months service as a Yacht Engineer which must include at least 6 months accumulated actual sea service
OR
After completing 12 months service as a Yacht Engineer wich must include at least 6 months accumulated actual sea service, whilst holding an MEOL(Y) Licence.
Yacht 4 Mandatory Training and Examination Modules - Marine Diesel Engineering; Operational Procedures, Basic Hotel Services and Ship Construction; Auxiliary Equipment and Craft Skills Test.
The Yacht 4 Certificate of Competency is issued by the MCA after mandatory attendance at each FIVE day training module and success in each module written examination. Also, success in the MCA oral examination.
Chief Engineer Reg III/2 Certificate of Comptency (Chief Engineer "Service Endorsement"), referred to as "Yacht 3" or "Y3"
After completing 9 months service as a Yacht Engineer which must include at least 3 months accumulated actual sea service, whilst holding a Yacht 4 Licence.
Yacht 3 Mandatory Training and Examination Module - Chief Engineer Statutory and Operational Requirements.
The Yacht 3 Certificate of Competency is issued by the MCA after mandatory attendance at the FIVE day training module and success in the module written examination. Also, success in the MCA oral examination.

After completing 24 months service as a Yacht Engineer which must include at least 12 months accumulated actual sea service, whilst holding a Yacht 4 Licence

After completing 15 months service as a Yacht Engineer which must include at least 9 months accumulated actual sea service, whilst holding a Yacht 3 Licence.
Yacht 2 Mandatory Training and Examination Modules - Chief Engineer Statutory and Operational Requirements (not required if holding a Yacht 3 Licence); Applied Marine Engineering; Advanced Hotel Services and Ship Construction; General Engineering Science I Theory and General Engineering Science II Theory.
The Yacht 2 Certificate of Competency is issued by the MCA after mandatory attendance at each FIVE day training module and success in each module witten examination. Also, success in the MCA oral examination.
Chief Engineer Reg III/2 Certificate of Competency ("Large Yacht Endorsement"), referred to as "Yacht 1" or "Y1"
After completing 12 months service as a Yacht Engineer on a Motor Yacht of between 500 and 3000 gross tonnes and not less than 3000 kW propulsion power, whilst holding a Yacht 2 Licence
OR
After completing 12 months service as a Yacht Engineer on a Sailing Yacht of between 1000 and 3000 gross tonnes and not less than 1500 kW propulsion power, whilst holding a Yacht 2 Licence.
The Yacht 1 Certificate of Competency is issued by the MCA after success in the oral examination.

evo moram prijaviti da sam konacno, nakon mjesec i pol trazenja, nasao posao. i to apsolutno savrsen za mene...mate na 35m katamaranu u monacu...
dosad sam trazio a sad evo trazim...
treba nam Y3 za stalno, nema rotacije, ali je super ekipa i kapetan a gazda vrlo malo na brodu, ide se u libanon i egipat pa ako nekoga zanima neka mi se javi na romeo@yacht-base.com...
isto tako trazimo i stew-cook, samo za posadu i second stew...

Pozdrav ljudi!!
Inace sam na forumu o Offshoreu industzry jer sam na supplayerima i Subsea brodovima..ali su me pocele zanimat jahte imam iskustva u offshore skoro 7 godina ko 3rd i 2nd Engineer pa vidim da morski pas ima neke opcije pa sam zainteresiran.....ako kome treba sta o offshore napisao sami stavio adrese na forumu o offshore industry....

evo dvije pozicije za kapetane. jedna je za 50ft yahtu nesto oko 3000eu u francuskoj, druga 68 ft oko 4000 eu, treba je uzet na sardiniji, dovest u hrv i tamo bit vjerovatno cijelo ljeto
